YouTubes best-suited males AmazingPhil and Danisnotonfire have been sent to Jamaica on their latest product promotion deal! The hit UK sensations were flown out by Sanyo to test out the new waterproof Xacti VPC-CA100 cameras along with other YT "celebrities" including CharlesTrippy and HeyNadine.

Dan and Phil have been sunning themselves all week: riding on donuts, travelling through rainforests and exploring waterfalls. ¡imbrt! - RantTank Series 2!

So MrTinoForever is at it again? The mastermind behind RantTank has rekindled the ominous viral marketing campaign and is about to reveal the fresh faces looking to moan and groan on the hit YouTube channel RantTank.

YTDL has inside information, submitted via our trusty FormSpring account on who might just be in the newest series. Rumour has it that oldtimer Gary (of CheekTV fame) will no longer be returning after having said "I only signed up for 6 episodes". In addition to this, we've been informed that Conor (from YesItsConor) won't be returning after his recent leave from YouTube. It's been hinted at that Ben (DoctorBenjy on YouTube) has followed his friend Garys lead and jumped ship, so we here at YTDL wonder who is left?!

15 minutes of YT fame?

YouTube announced on their blog yesterday that the upload limit for users has now been upped to 15 minutes. Now viewers everywhere can be delighted by small-time vloggers rambling on from their untidied, poorly lit bedrooms for an extra 5 minutes! BUT for the more aspirational vloggers out there, the YouTube team want you to make a video of your very own "15 minutes of fame" - with the tag "yt15minutes". As long as your video is uploaded by Wednesday 4th August, it could be selected for Spotlighting on the front page!

Imagine, 15 minutes of your face on http://www.youtube.com! Well now, thank to YT's "state-of-the-art Content ID system" it really could be you on the homepage, so get recording and uploading - just don't expect a speedy upload. ;)

Life In A Day - global experiment!

In a YouTube first, director Kevin Macdonald and producer Ridley Scott are setting out to create an entirely user-generated film shot in one day - July 24th 2010. The only thing is, it's entirely made by YOU. On their YouTube channel: LifeInADay viewers are being encouraged to get their camera out and film a glimpse of their lives between 12:01am and 11:59pm on Saturday 24th.

Anyone over 13 can participate and after uploading your videos to YouTube and submitting them on the channel, you could be in with the chance of being blown to America for the world premiere! We at YTDL think that this is a great opportunity and vlogging about your day is also encouraged, so get out your flipcam and start recording on Saturday morning. Happy vlogging!

Oh yes, we're back and better than EVER. Did you miss us?

So what has been happening since our last post? Countless Twitter fights, fake trips to Paris, drunken fumbles in clubs, YouTube hackings - and that is only the start of it. Here on YTDL, we will be bringing you the latest on the YouTube community in the form of blog posts, Twitter updates, interviews, picture uploads and even videos.

Twitter Fake Arguments?!

Twitter users Hatti (Hatticusrex) and Georgie (Afterdarks) staged an argument earlier this evening. YTDL do not want to feature the fake argument because we do not encourage such attention seeking behaviour, but we want to put this out as a message - making your own stories from thin air will not amount to anything.

FraudXTRA Tom?

This is a line from Tom Perkins (TomSPerkins) YouTube Channel: "FilmXTRA is the ONLY show on Youtube that brings you down-to-earth movie reviews". Tom is right - they ARE down-to-earth and YTDL think that they are very well written reviews! It's a shame that Tom did not write them. Any of them.

This story began to unfold as comments started appearing on Toms review videos, claiming that they were written by someone else. The same accusations began to appear on film blog sites across the web.

It soon surfaced that Tom was actually stealing entire film reviews to use for his scripts. One example of the exitable reviews Tom stole for his channel was for Iron Man 2. In an attempt to shake off any rumours, Tom hastily posted this on his Twitter account: "...people think i stolen someones review. Anyone that knows me knows that i dont read anyones review". However, conclusive evidence of this plagiarism was soon to follow.

You can see in full the extent of Toms in a post on The Following Preview. This website lists an extensive breakdown of the massive 65+ videos (which have all now been removed from Toms channel) and where the reviews came from.

If this evidence does not prove conclusive prove, we at YTDL urge you to take a look on JoBlo's blog. In this blog post exposing the fraud you watch one of his videos on the site, while reading along to a review written on another website, posted BEFORE Toms videos went up. In the blog posts example, you are welcomed to watch and read along to -TOMs- review of Iron Man 2 (originally written by "Jimmy O" on JoBlo's website).

Tom has since spoken openly about the matter on his Twitter account, saying "I'm currently writing a written apology to all those involved". We commend Tom for admitting the error of his ways and contacting those that he betrayed. However, will it be enough to earn viewers trust back? Not in the case of HeyUGuys blog who openly terminated any agreement that they had with the YouTuber. HeyUGuys supported Tom throughout his review series on YT by promoting his videos, linking to his channel and enabling him to gain a wider audience to see -his- content. YTDL forgot to mention that Tom is part of the YouTube Partnership programme, so has been actively making money from the videos that he uploaded. Could we see a law suit in the pipeline coming from angry film blog posters that were robbed by Tom?

You can also read Toms full letter of apology on JoBlo's blog and make up your own mind. Is he a fraud or will you be watching his new videos - which he is alledgedly "currently writing"? YTDL will be watching.

Twitter is often subjected to numerous #hashtag memes, from #ImABelieber to #FirstDateThoughts, but Charlie Skies (Charlieskies) has once again embarked on one of his usual annoying games with the community. This time he's recycling his phrase "I will cut you" from his video featuring friend Aoife (Aoiifenessence). Charlie announced via Twitter that he "want[s] to get #bitchiwillcutyou trending!" and sat back RTing tweets from literally hundreds of fans.

As everyones Twitter feed became spammed and most got increasingly annoyed at the meme, Charlie enjoyed the variations of the popular phrase. After just 22 minutes YTDL researchers spotted the below picture on their Twitter pages. However just 19 minutes later the trending topic disappeared. It is believed that Twitter staff removed the #hashtag from the Worldwide Trending topics as it is threatening and encouraging offensive behaviour. Shame, Charlie.

LightsCameraAudition Fail?

Half of power couple ‘Pashlee’ on YouTube, Ashlee (http://www.youtube.comlightscameraashlee/) recently attended auditions for Skins on E4. The UK teen drama depicts the lives of “normal” teenagers in Britain – getting drunk, high, sexed up and kicked out of school. Sound familiar? We think YTDL already has articles along these lines? In any case, YTDL were saddened to hear that Ashlee did not make it through to the final round of auditions. We think Ashlee has the look, as well as the acting ability – so fail to understand why she might not have been right for the show?

We hope you try again next year Ashlee (YTDL need an exlusive interview when you are a big television star)! We know you are a fan of YTDL, so do not forget us little people when you are jetting off to Hollywood!

UploadTour SCANDAL!

2010 saw the promise of big things for the UK YouTube community, including UploadTour. The concept behind it was fairly sketchy, but we did know this: YouTube musicians including Alex Day (Nerimon), Tom Milsom (Hexachordal) and Ed Blann (Eddplant) would be touring the country celebrating their passion for music with their fans. The organiser of this project was cheeky faced 23 y/o blogger "Rick C", real name Ricky Crane (5k1tz2006). The group seemed to be getting along well and videos were uploaded from each of them outlining the channel and its promises. Then everything went -very- quiet.

It seems that after some "miscommunication", as Rick explains in a video on the UploadTour channel, the tour had to be cancelled. YTDL researched scouted high and low for a lead on this story but no such "miscommunication" has been discovered. However we have noticed that Rick C has continued to post videos on the channel - he appears to be going 'solo'. The channel has gained just over 7,000 subscribers thanks to promotion from Alex Day, Tom Milsom and all others involved and enterprising old Rick C thought he would indulge the viewers in a competition, to make up for no tour.

The competitions prize is a whopping iPod touch! Crumbs! So how do we win? Well the process is simple, as Rick C explains in a video on the UploadTour channel and on his channel. All you have to do is subscribe to his channel (5k1tz2006), add the channel to your "Other Channels" box and post a comment on his videos! Simples? Well, yes - but we at YTDL question why Rick asks so much of his viewers. Some might say that Rick C is adveritising a competition to UploadTour in order to manipulate the subscribers for his gain?

We wonder what the likes of Alex Day or Ed Blann would think of this?! Well, one of our researchers called Ed to see what he had to say on the matter. He said "I'm not at liberty to talk about it at the moment" and commented that he is "very busy". So it seems that communication is still lapsing on some fronts! Ed did go on to say, however, that he "like[s] what you are doing by the way". Thanks Ed! You can check out his talent for music on his channel by clicking here!

To conclude, we do not blame Rick C. If you were left with a channel bursting full of subscribers and products to give away, would you not make use of it? Most may say no, but we believe that deep down you think otherwise. Oh and by the way, feel free to enter his competition on his channel - it closes when he reaches 10,000 subscribers! YouTube 2.0?

2010 brought a wave of new faces into the community. These trendy teens have been quoted as "taking over from the old youtubers" or 'passing on the baton' online. But could this new generation be one step too far? We have entered the post-modern era on YouTube and it appears we are recycling all that we can in order to keep the spirit of our world alive.

A great example of this is Pete (KapowVlogging), pictured right (left hand side). Pete came to YouTube fame in 2009 and after partnering up with girlfriend Ashlee (Lightscameraashlee) the duo became known as 'Pashlee', an unstoppable force in the community. YTDL aren't going to slate Petes videos, because we think that he is a cute, funny teen and his vids aim to fit in with the other "totally random" 16 year olds on the site - no big deal.
However we wonder if now that Pete has settled down and recently celebrated 9 months with girlfriend "Gashlee", is he stepping back from the YouTube spotlight? The face above (on the right) is Mark (MarkNeilson). Mark is a 17 y/o dailyboother who has a limited collection of arty videos on his YouTube channel. Mark is becoming more and more popular in the community and as his name / face spreads, Petes seems to be fading away. YTDL wonder if this is another sign of "YouTube 2.0" taking over the community?

Another example is CharlieSkies (CharlieSkies). In a recent video Charlie said that he no longer enjoyed posting vids and would not be uploading as regularly, which looks to us like taking a step back from the community? Que JoeBonte (JoeBonte [DB])! His real name is Hugh and this adorable fellow is an 18 y/o physics student at York University. His picture on the left (right hand side) bares a lot of resemblance to Mr Skies (left hand side), wouldn't you agree? It seems that even the untamable Skies is letting the new kids on the block have their 15 minutes of online fame. Charlie has been known for his wild ups and downs on YouTube, creating drama and mischief along the way - we just hope that cute little Hugh does not follow the same fate! Then again, it worked out alright for Mr Skies; with his 24,000 subscribers and TV famous boyfriend?

Here at YTDL we will be keeping a close eye on the newcomers, the faders and the attention seekers as YouTube 2.0 takes the internet by storm! We exclude noone.

Bday Boredom for Lomasca!

YouTube resident Chris Lomas (Lomasca) celebrates his 20th birthday tomorrow (11th May) and we at YTDL want to wish him a happy birthday. Chris announced on his dailybooth recently that he does not have any plans for his birthday and will probably spend it in his usual routine as he is "too busy to have anything planned (N)". Poor Chris! Maybe spending some time with loose friends the TinoPosse would brighten up your big day? Or maybe heading up country to spend time with special friend Jack Fox (Jackfx)?

Whatever you do Chris, don't spend it alone! The poor chap (pictured right) is facing heavy workloads from his university and struggling to keep up with deadlines, along with many others in the community. So it looks like Lomasca's special day might be spent pushing pencils and assembling powerpoint presentations for his marketing degree?

Other birthdays coming up in the near future include irish vlogger Stephen Byrne (3sixty5days) on 13th May, Tino Lander Boyce (MrTinoForever) on 21st May and Barry mcStay (Bazmcstay) on 25th May. From all of us here at YTDL, we hope you enjoy your special day!

JaackMaate Becomes Paartneer?

YouTuber JaackMaate (http://www.youtube.com/JaackMaate), real name Jack Dean, discovered that he had been accepted onto the YouTube partnership programme at midday today. 'Jaack' posted a tweet on the subject: "IM A YOUTUBE PARTNER!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!" and seems very pleased with himself and his new status in the community as an "official partner"?

However we at YTDL wonder how Jack came to be a partner - how exactly did Jack reach his YouTube fame? YTDL wonder if it is his alleged "sub4sub" requests with other youtubers that have helped his viewcount? Or perhaps posting his videos on the front page of a famous comedians unofficial channel helps his YouTube Insight tick over? His alternative approach to gaining subscribers and views is frowned on by some members of the community, while others understand that to get your name out into the community you have to do all that you can! We also wonder how long it will be until Jaack realises that he is not actually a full partner because he did not apply in the traditional manner. Still, we will leave Jack to have his moment and wish him the best of luck with his videos - including new "comedy" sketches.

DanIsICECOLD in New Video Dares!

New YouTube phonomenon Danisnotonfire (http://www.youtube.com/danisnotonfire) has been posting a different variety of videos in recent weeks. His latest video "Truth or dare?!" sees Dan doing stupid and horrible things at the expense of views. Dan recieved his newfound fame after appearing at the side of UK sensation Phil (http://www.youtube.com/amazingphil) and has since been attempting to entertain his audience in the best way he can. His attempts at getting the audience to interact with him by sending him challenges and punishments follow in the footsteps of Charlie McDonnell (http://www.youtube.com/charlieissocoollike) who started a similar segment "Challenge Charlie" in order to build a bridge with his subscribers and keep the views flooding in.

We here at YTDL wonder if Dan is feeling the stress of being an online celebrity and exactly for how long he is prepared to stick ice cubes down his underwear or eat a banana seductively? We support your efforts Dan but please, stop trying so hard!

MR Sugars Swirl of TERROR!

YouTube mememaker CharlieSkies (http://www.youtube.com/charlieskies) recently posted a video titled "dizzy cat =^-^=" in which Mr Sugars (in the picture below) was seen being spun around by Charlie on his kitchen floor. The video lasted for no more than 40 seconds and Charlie promised in the video description that the cat "loves it". At the end of the video the cat was seen stumbling to its feet and starting to walk away meowing. The video came under fire from Charlies fans and viewers who called him an "animal abuser" and "sick in the head", while Charlie fought back saying that it was just a joke and he knows what the cat likes. Just hours later the video was taken down after being reported to YouTube a supposed 16+ times! We at YTDL can not decide if the video was abusive or just a bit of fun, so leave a comment and let us know what you think - we are going to mention them in one of our next blog posts. All Things Dyer!

YouTubes Myles (http://www.youtube.com/blade376) has been expressing his joy on Twitter today as he starts his new job, new channel and new life! Myles is YouTubes answer to Bob Geldof and has been known for helping to raise money through the community on his channel before starting work at the BBC in their online comedy department.

However recently Myles lost his job at the BBC during cutbacks that the institution were making and after weeks of "lameness" he has started his new job, this week working in construction. Myles also recently setup a new YouTube channel and can now be found at his new channel (http://www.youtube.com/mylesdyertv) which already has just over 1,600 subscribers! We at YTDL think that his channel is fun and has a lot of potential, but we wonder if his fans will enjoy it as much, after previously complaining for his funny style of videos on his other channel.

We will keep you posted on all things Dyer and hope that MylesDyerTV becomes a big hit of 2010, bringing Myles back into the spotlight on YouTube.

iSinclair on the iPod

YouTube musician Tom Sinclair (http://www.youtube.com/tomsin123) has released an iPod app dedicated to his fans! The app allows users to listen to all of his songs for absolutely free and also to do things like see his latest tweets and watch his videos.

Although his VEDA videos came under fire from YouTubers for being annoyingly frequent (along with all other VEDA participants) we think his videos are well worth a watch. YTDL heard that one of his latest videos directed by AlexTheMagix (http://www.youtube.com/alexthemagix) was filmed to say thank you for letting him use Toms music in some of his latest vids. You scratch their back and they will scratch yours, eh Tom?

The app also features a bio page which alledgedly features a completely history of Tom and how he came to be where he is now. Apparently the bio is rather ego-centered and talks about how Tom is "bringing the fans what they want" but we think that the music makes up for a little bit of ego boosting.

All in all we think the FREE app is worth downloading, although YTDL does not have an Ipod. Still, it certainly -looks- like it is worth checking out. Well done Tom. The app is avaliable via the apple 'App Store' for a grand total of £00.00.

KirstyKannibals FAKEbook Drama!

YouTube resident Kirsty (http://www.youtube.com/kirstykannibal) has had photos stolen from her facebook and dailybooth stolen!

She recently posted on her dailybooth "FUCK THE HELL OFF. Just so you know I've had your 'profile' reported by 17 people already and people are still reporting. I suggest you give up before I hunt you down and rip you to pieces. Use your own face you turd.". Kirsty sounds very angry by these fraud accusations and we do no blame her! The teen alternative model frequently posts pictures from her latest photoshoots, so YTDL can understand her anger in having these photos ripped and uploaded by someone else!

All we can say is that whoever the fake Kirsty is, you had better watch out! The distressed Kirsty described the faker as "SOME LOWLIFE PIECE OF SHIT" and although our researchers could not find the fake profile that Kirsty mentioned on her dailybooth picture, the account has supposedly been reported a total of 17 times so far! We will keep you up to date on YTDL and if this traitor is ever uncovered we will be the first to announce them!
